ThE POWER OF FriendS

Plano Library Friends brings programs and experiences to life that taxpayer funding alone doesn’t cover. From story times and small business mentoring to staff development and pilot programs, Friends ensures that Plano Public Library can go beyond just books to engage and inspire the community.

Since 2001, we have raised more than $2.4 million for Plano Public Library, which has funded:
• Two “More Than Books” outreach vehicles
• An artist-in-residence program
• Programs in senior living communities
• Continuing education opportunities for Library staff 
• Pilot programs that launched new services, including eBooks, eMagazines, Digital newspapers, Robotics, STEAM kits
• And so much more!

From October 2024 through September 2025, Friends’ funding enabled 118,558 people to attend 3,261 Library programs, and Library staff to participate in 558 community events, interacting with 29,162 individuals.

Install a picture book display called a StoryWalk® along a path at a local park to make reading more accessible.

Install interactive musical and educational elements outside the Library to encourage additional learning and engagement.
